Pieclex, the "electric fiber," is a new material born from the fusion of Murata Manufacturing's piezoelectric technology "denki" and Teijin Frontier's synthetic fiber technology "seni." When the fibers move with human movement, they generate a weak electricity, exerting an antibacterial effect*¹. It is also effective against odor-causing bacteria, making it an effective odor control material.

It is a bioplastic derived from plants such as corn and sugar cane, and is biodegradable*2, which means it places less of a burden on the environment. With proper composting, it can reduce CO2 emissions by approximately 41%*3 compared to petroleum-derived polyester fibers (PET fibers).
Furthermore, after wearing out, apparel and textile products made with Pieclex fibers are returned to nature through a collection and composting system called "P-FACTS" and reused to cultivate new plants. Antibacterial function
Pieclex's raw material, plant-derived polylactic acid, generates electricity through the piezoelectric effect when stress is applied.
As a result, when the fibers move with human movement, a weak electricity is generated, providing an antibacterial effect*¹.
It is also effective against bacteria that cause odor, making it an effective odor control agent.
The antibacterial effect of Pieclex is based on the antibacterial properties of the fibers themselves, not on the application of antibacterial agents, so you can use it with peace of mind. In addition, the effect will last no matter how many times it is washed.

Piezoelectric effect
The piezoelectric effect is a phenomenon in which voltage is generated when pressure is applied to certain materials.
Pieclex exerts its antibacterial effect*¹ by utilizing the piezoelectric effect that occurs when fibers move due to human movement.
The voltage generated by Pieclex is different from static electricity and cannot be sensed by the human body*².
Specifically, the voltage generated by Pieclex is between a few volts and a few tens of volts, which is a level that humans cannot feel.
Although this is a very small amount of energy compared to static electricity, which is approximately 3000V, it is enough to inhibit the growth of microorganisms, thereby exerting an antibacterial effect.
